Drawing Winter

You may think that drawing winter scenery is harder than drawing other types of things. How do you get “white” that blends to show that there is snow on the ground? Ice in the trees? It can sound daunting, but it really isn’t. The beauty of winter is that everything just flows together. Adding color or texture to it with lines can show the story that you are trying to tell.

As you can see, the scenery does not need defined tree leaves or grass, but there is enough winter-y elements that it still appears to be a winter’s scene. You can easily do the same by starting with simple shapes and embellishing them to add winter things.
